Once they have their wish list Jim works with a local contractor, DFW Improved, to transform the outdated design into a space that will fit their lifestyle.

Let the real work begin! During the demo Jim gives us an up-close look on how a proper demo is done. We also get a look at several of the discoveries along the way as the project manager talks to Jim about how they will remedy each one. The first step in the kitchen remodel is selecting the appliances as all else such as cabinets and countertops will be designed to work with the appliances selected. Jim gets a tour at the showroom highlighting what will be used and why.

The project continues as the renovated space is framed and plumbing relocated. During the process, Jim encounters a few problems including a tree root growing under the foundation. It is also time to select floors as the homeowners prefer a wood-look, but want floors that are water- and scratch-resistant. The old hazardous electrical box is removed and replaced with a larger box to accommodate the growing electrical needs as more technology is added to the home.

This season Jim and the THI team take on a variety of Texas-size projects that can take a turn when things don't go as planned. Today we start at Jim's son, Adam's house where together they are going to update this 1970's home to something perfect for this newlywed couple. First step is the demo which will involve gutting the existing kitchen and living room. Jim and his nephew, Jack do all the heavy lifting. Also, the homeowners go shopping for appliances which will be a key piece to complete kitchen overhaul.

An unexpected moment changes plans for multiple projects Jim is working on. At Adam & Valerie's house with the wall and ceiling opened up the electricians can rewire for the remodel. Seawall construction begins at the lake house, but the guys have to improvise as they discover unique challenges when doing construction in water.

Before Jim resumes the remodeling project it is time for the Pasadena Livestock Show & Rodeo where Jim is part of the auction that raises thousands of dollars for area kids, and we take in some wild live rodeo action. Back at the remodel Jim, with the help of Adam and Jack, lay wood floors in the hallway. At the lake house clean up from a huge storm becomes a priority as a large tree is down on the property.

Projects across Texas continue! At the lake a new sprinkler system is being installed. Jim demonstrates switching out a tank to a tankless water heater. And an old stone fireplace gets custom resurfaced makeover.

Renovations continue at Adam's house. The focus turns to the floor as concrete work is done to modernize the floor style. This involves properly mixing concrete and setting it with rebar. The guys also install waterproof flooring. Next step is re-building the fireplace hearth, but first Jim and Adam have to shop for all the materials.

The remodeling project is moving along as Jim and Adam take on building a new fireplace hearth. Using concrete blocks gives the the structural foundation they need, but also the flexibility to make it the size and shape they want. Next Jim takes a trip to the Christmas tree farm and learns everything you need to know before buying a fresh-cut tree.

The extensive remodel at Adam's house continues. In this episode Jim and Adam install the Ikea kitchen cabinets. Adam also guides us through the basics for installing baseboards. Additionally, there is an unanticipated need for a new garage door and Adam opts for a new smart garage door and opener.

Jim's on vacation, but the work doesn't stop. At Jim's house the brick fireplace interior is deteriorating so Lonestar Masonry Repair is out to repair the mortor and prolong the life of the fireplace. Back at Adam's house Adam creates a space for DIY painting his new kitchen cabinets. And then the custom quartz countertops are installed. The kitchen is almost done!

Jim and Adam take on the last few projects in Adam's house. Today, they install a non-prehung door in the laundry room. They only have one chance at this. Will they hang the door perfectly, or will Adam have to buy a new door? Afterwards, Jim and Adam work on the other side of the fireplace, and they finish up the hearth using concrete as the top.
